上面的磨盤還鑿上孔，與下盤咬合，固定在一個架座上，且下扇中間有一短的立軸，用鐵制成，上扇中間有一個相應的空套，兩扇相合，下扇固定，上扇才能繞軸逆向轉(zhuǎn)動。同時，兩扇的接觸面有一個空膛，叫作“磨膛”。
